Hsinchu, Taiwan — Quantum NIL (QtNIL), a leading innovator in nanoimprint lithography (NIL), announces its strategic initiative to drive the commercialization of quantum technologies through its advanced NIL platform, focusing on high-precision fabrication of metalenses and quantum photonic components.
Amidst growing global investment in quantum R&D, QtNIL positions itself as a key enabler in Taiwan’s quantum supply chain. “Quantum optical components are essential to advancing the entire quantum ecosystem, and Taiwan has both the manufacturing capacity and semiconductor expertise to help global players validate and scale next-generation designs,” said Dr. Sean Lin, CEO of QtNIL and Ph.D. in Physics from New York University.
Founded in 2022, QtNIL has developed a proprietary hybrid NIL process that enables scalable, wafer-level manufacturing of compound semiconductors and metasurface-based optics. Its core offerings include 2–8 inch wafer processing across materials like InP, GaAs, GaN, SiC, and Ge, tailored for applications in AR/VR, photonics, biomedical optics, and quantum computing.
Metalenses, constructed from high-density nanostructures using NIL, are poised to revolutionize compact optics. QtNIL's ultra-thin optical solutions are being adopted for AR glasses, and hold disruptive potential in smartphone cameras, offering significant reductions in size and weight.
Dr. Lin emphasized, “Metalenses fabricated at the wafer scale enable lighter, more functional optical modules. As the technology evolves toward quantum optics, its integration into mobile and wearable devices could be as impactful as the AI software revolution.”
With demand for metasurface optics expected to surge across sectors, QtNIL is proactively collaborating with international brands and ecosystem partners to co-develop applications. The company aims to be an early mover in the projected multi-billion-dollar metalens and quantum optics markets.
“Taiwan cannot afford to miss the global quantum innovation train,” added Dr. Lin. “We’re here to build the supply chain, drive integration, and unlock practical value from frontier science.”
